The Second Week of February of every year is declared as “National Awareness Week for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation”.

The period from February 14 to 20 of every year is declared as the “National Intellectual Disability Week” in the Philippines, by virtue of Proclamation No. 1385, series of 1975.

The second Sunday of January of every year is declared as the “Unknown Citizens’ Day” by virtue of Commonwealth Act No. 152 (C.A. No. 152).

Trafficking in Persons refers to the recruitment, obtaining, hiring, providing, offering, transportation, transfer, maintaining, harboring, or receipt of persons with or without the victim’s consent or knowledge, within or across national borders by means of threat, or use of force, or other forms of coercion, abduction, fraud, deception, abuse of power or of position, taking advantage of the vulnerability of the person, or, the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person for the purpose of exploitation which includes at a minimum, the exploitation or the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labor or services, slavery, servitude or the removal or sale of organs.

Linggo ng Kabataan is celebrated every second week of December of every year by virtue of Proclamation No. 99, s. 1992

December 3 of every year is declared as “International Day of Persons with Disabilities in the Philippines”. (Proclamation No. 1157, s. 2006)

The period from November 23-29 of every year is declared as the “Population and Development Week”.

Disabled persons have the same rights as other people to take their proper place in society. They should be able to live freely and as independently as possible. This must be the concern of everyone – the family, community and all government and nongovernment organizations. Disabled persons’ rights must never be perceived as welfare services by the Government. (Section 2[c], Magna Carta for Disabled Persons)

Under Republic Act No. 10754 or the Act Expanding the Benefits and Privileges of Persons with Disability (PWD), an annual income tax deduction is given to relatives who are caring for and living with a Person with Disability (PWD).

Under the IPRA Law, Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) enjoy Four Bundles of Rights namely: Right to Ancestral Domains and Lands, Right to Self-Governance and Empowerment, Right to Social Justice and Human Rights, and Right to Cultural Integrity.
