The 2024 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) will be held on November 27 to December 1, 2024 at The Atrium, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City with the theme “Siyensya, Teknolohiya at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Kinabukasan (Providing Solutions and Opening Opportunities in the Green Economy)”.
The National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) was institutionalized in 1982 through Proclamation No. 2214, which was signed by the late president Ferdinand E. Marcos. In the said proclamation, it was designated to be celebrated every second week of July every year. However, by virtue of Proclamation No. 169 under the administration of former President Fidel V. Marcos in 1993, the observance of the NSTW was moved to the third week of July. Finally, in August 2019, former President Rodrigo “Roa” Duterte moved the celebration of the NSTW to every fourth week of November, through Proclamation No. 780. The change of date was meant to ensure “maximum participation” of schools, students, stakeholders and the public during the week-long celebration due to the change in the academic calendar of most universities, schools, and educational institutions.
