With the passage of RA 10173 or Data Privacy Act of 2012, companies with at least 250 employees or have access to the personal and identifiable information of at least 1,000 people were required to register with the National Privacy Commission and comply with the Data Privacy Act. Since the Implementing Rules and Regulations was put in effect on September 9, 2016, many companies are already on its way to compliance. However, many are still not aware of the law and the responsibilities that come along with it.
